Diversity & inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion Heathrow

Our diversity is our strength

Day in and day out, we welcome passengers and colleagues with unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives from around the world. The same goes for our community of colleagues. Our diversity is a major part of who we are. It makes us stronger and helps us respond to the needs of our colleagues and passengers.

When you join Heathrow, you join an organisation that believes in bridging the gaps between us. We believe in a safe and inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome and together, we celebrate the diversity that each member of Heathrow brings.

We are committed to creating a ‘great place to work’ by being a truly inclusive organisation that by 2030, represents the diversity of the local community at every level. We have made some excellent progress to date however there is more to do. We publish Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap Reports and promote inclusive decision making.

We continuously work to strengthen our capability and amplify the voice of the colleague so that Heathrow is place where openness, honesty, challenge and innovation are encouraged and valued.  We have four diversity networks, focused on gender equality, LGBTQ+, disability and culture and ethnicity; we’re proud of their achievements and excited about their future plans.

We’re proud to be recognised as a Disability Confident Leader. We’ve actively taken steps to remove physical barriers and ensure all information is provided in easily accessible formats. You'll notice the Sunflower lanyard on-site, a subtle but visible sign to let others know that the wearer may require some extra help, time or assistance.

Recruitment

As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all. At the recruitment stage, we’ve assembled a wide panel of interviewers from different backgrounds, people who are trained to take hidden disabilities such as autism, anxiety or depression, plus learning difficulties caused by ADHD and dyslexia, into account. In partnership with the Disability Confident Scheme, we also guarantee an interview to any candidate with a disability who meets the minimum criteria for that role.
