On our Finance Future Leaders programme, you will learn what it takes for our diverse business to deliver annual revenues of £3bn and ensure a sustainable future through effective supply chain management. You’ll see how we handle a cost base of over £1bn, working with internal business partners and over 2,000 suppliers as we enable Heathrow to realise our value potential. Our Finance and Procurement teams touch every area of the business, driving multi-million-pound decisions, acting as trusted advisors and influencing how we run our business.

Two-year scheme

This is a two-year leadership development programme. You will have the rare opportunity to rotate around different areas, including:

  • Reporting and Planning
  • Expansion Procurement
  • Business Partnering
  • Treasury
  • Contract Services and more.

You will get involved in a fascinating range of projects and tasks, growing your skill set every step of the way. With opportunities to gain experience across the department, from delivering month-end to negotiating new commercial partnerships, you will be adding real value to the business and building the relationships that will set you up to be a finance leader of the future.

There are two streams to this programme:

  • Accounting stream: This stream will set you up for success through two, one-year rotations within different teams in Finance. You will develop your technical and practical capabilities, such as financial accounting, tax strategy and risk management. In addition to this, you will build core leadership skills through a business partnering role. During the programme, we will support you towards completing your CIMA or ACCA qualification.
  • Procurement stream: This pathway will open your eyes to the world of procurement at Heathrow through four, three-month rotations in your first year, followed by a longer specialised placement in your second year. Having built your skills in supplier relations, contract management and governance, the final 12-month placement will challenge you to apply your contract management capability to a chosen specialist area. Throughout the programme, we will guide you towards completing a CIPS or RICS qualification.

We will tailor your programme to ensure you develop core skills and behaviours as well as meeting the practical experience requirements for your chosen professional qualification. The aim of the programme is to unlock your potential through real-life experiences whilst learning from the experts in our teams.

Supporting you for success

Throughout the programme, you will enjoy the support of a senior sponsor from our executive team. They will be there to help you build your networks, challenge your thinking and unlock opportunities. You will also meet regularly with a dedicated mentor who can answer any questions you may have about the organisation and help you find solutions to any challenges you may face. Plus, you will have a ‘buddy’ to show you the ropes until you find your feet.

Your professional development

Whilst you are completing real work, with real responsibility, we will also support your studying to achieve a professional qualification as outlined above. We will provide you with the opportunity to choose which qualification you undertake based on your career aspirations and conversations with your line managers. We will support you with study leave and the funding you require to successfully complete your qualification. What could you achieve?

We are looking for graduates with a real interest in developing a breadth of understanding in Finance or Procurement, who seek to become our leaders of the future. You will need to have an analytical mind with strong numerical ability to help you work through challenges within the role. It’s important for you to demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude, integrity and a real passion for living our Heathrow values.

We will give you the scope to build upon your excellent communication skills, and show you how you can use these to effectively influence and negotiate through your career. We are seeking our future leaders in Finance and Procurement so you need a flair for problem solving as well as demonstrating drive and ambition.
