How we use your information
Heathrow Airport Ltd is committed to collecting and using your personal information responsibly, fairly and securely and in compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection 2018. We take our obligation with regards to your personal information seriously and will always aim to treat your information with respect and use it responsibly.

What information will we collect about you?
To support your employment with us we may collect the following information about you:

Contact details e.g. email address, contact numbers, address
Family information e.g. next of kin, marital status, emergency contact details
Date of birth
Diversity information, e.g. ethnicity, gender
Financial information e.g. bank details
Education and qualifications
Medical information e.g. Sickness information, medical fitness including substance testing
Employment and travel history, where required to complete counter terrorism or criminal record checks
Any other personal information that you chose to include on your C.V

How will Heathrow use the information it collects about me?
Heathrow will use your personal data to meet our obligations to you as an applicant, to meet legal and statutory requirements and to meet other occasional legitimate interests. The specific reasons for collecting and processing your data fall into the following broad categories:

Evaluate your application and assess your suitability for the vacancy you have applied to
Make a decision about whether you should be selected for interview and subsequent offer
Conduct relevant pre-employment screening for successful applicants (including a five year employer reference history). In order to comply with Department for Transport regulations, some positions will also require a criminal record and counter terrorism check.
Carry out equal opportunities reporting and conduct equalities monitoring activities
With your consent, identify any future vacancies which may be of interest to you

The legal justifications for collecting and using your personal data are that:

It is necessary for the performance of our employment contract with you OR
It is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations OR
It is necessary for the purposes of occupational medicine OR
Where we have a legitimate interest OR
You have given consent for a specific usage of your data

In order to fulfil these purposes, we may need to disclose information to our 3rd party recruitment partners. They will only use the personal information provided by us for the purposes outlined above and in assessing your suitability for a role at LHR Airports Ltd. In the case of all disclosures we will always ensure the disclosure is legitimate and proportionate for the purpose.

How long will Heathrow keep my information?
Should you not be successful in obtaining a role with LHR Airports Ltd, we will retain your personal information in line with our retention policy (24 months), which ensures that we keep details on your application for no longer than is necessary. Should you wish for your information to be fully deleted prior to our defined retention policy, then you are able to request this by contacting us at recruitment_queries@heathrow.com.

If you are successful, then we will retain your personal data and it will form the basis of your employment details in our system. At that point in time, we will provide you with our colleague privacy notice.

All personal information will be retained in a secure environment and access to it will be restricted.

What rights do I have over my personal data?
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
Access your personal data by making a subject access request
Rectification, erasure or restriction of your information where this is justified
Object to or restrict the processing of your information where this is justified
