The best thing about Heathrow is the people. Not only the passengers, but my colleagues. I’ve been working at Heathrow for 26 years so I’ve met a lot of them. The chance to interact with all sorts of great people and personalities from so many different countries and cultures means that every day is different.

I started as a Security Officer in Terminal 1 and since then I’ve worked across the airport, seeing the construction of Terminal 5 and more recently the new Terminal 2. For the last two years I have been a Security Officer for the whole campus, which means that my days are varied and can be anything from operating X-ray equipment, to security and luggage searches, to checking ID and vehicles.

The equipment has certainly become more sophisticated - as we strive every day to ensure our passengers and colleagues are safe - but the values of excellent service, working together and treating everyone with respect are as important now as they have ever been.

I feel very proud to work at Heathrow and it gives me great satisfaction to be able to make a difference every day to someone’s journey.
